Shh… don't wake the Shushometer
A classroom noise meter with a sleepy creature on it. Keep the room calm and it naps. Get too loud and it wakes up grumpy.

Shushometer listens to the noise in your classroom and shows it as a sleepy creature on a cloud. While the room stays under your limit it naps happily. As the noise builds it opens an eye, and if the room stays too loud it puffs up, covers its ears and says “shhh”. Fireflies drift round it, a wave moves with every sound in the room, and while it's quiet it dreams. Every quiet minute lights a star in the sky, towards a constellation the class is trying to finish.
No. The browser measures how loud the room is, moment by moment, and that's all. No sound is recorded, saved or sent anywhere.
Yes. No ads, no accounts and nothing to install.
Start with Inside voices, watch the bar while the class works the way you want, then drag the slider so the line sits just above that. The creature only gets grumpy when the noise stays over the line for a moment, so one dropped book won't wake it.
Every minute the room spends under the limit lights a star in the night sky, and the minutes don't have to be in a row. The stars join up into a constellation, a heart, a star or a whirl, and when the class finishes it the lines glow, a shooting star crosses the sky and everyone gets a celebration. Reset stars starts a new constellation.
Yes, on browsers that allow it, the screen stays awake while Shushometer is listening.
